I decided to take on my master bedroom. Now I’m going to tell you all a dirty little secret – my master room looks like a bachelor pad. It’s the left over furniture from other projects, it’s the place I hide crap that doesn’t have a home, it’s the last room in the home that gets cleaned because I can just shut the door and it’s the room that has just been looked over and passed up.
I was able to paint a focal wall, get some curtains up, find some night stands and scored some Target lamps on clearance.
To me, it still screamed HELP!
Before tackling a room from scratch I get on Pinterest and begin to get some ideas. I think of a color scheme, or theme to help me and I create a board to keep me on track. I’m going to keep going with what I have already going for me – navy, gold and white. You can take a peek at my Pinterest Board – here.
I want to keep my master a bit masculine – I mean, I want my hubs to enjoy it too. I decorate pretty girlie in the other areas of my home. I love ruffles, flowers, pretty fabrics – it’s just me. So muting the girlie and adding more masculine is going to be a challenge for me.

Even though I own my home, I like to keep the wall colors neutral. We’re a military family and you know orders can popup at any moment. I really don’t want to be having to do a ton of painting when we have to list our home or rent it out in the future (whenever that may be). So I’m going with the White Walls popular Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore! Also, the navy I painted my wall is waaaay navy – so I’m doing to dull it down with Hale Navy also by Benjamin Moore. I saw this magazine clipping on Pinterest and I thought the colors go together perfectly!
When I’m decorating something, I take pictures of it and keep it in an album on my phone. That way, while I’m out and find something that may work, I can look at the pictures to help me. It also helps keep me focused on 1 project at a time.
I also love the idea of keeping a shopping list on my phone. It helps me stay focused on what I need AND on budget (my husband would be so proud I used that word).
Depending on your budget (there’s that word again) you may be able to take on a room and flip it in a week, or maybe it will take you some time to get done. Whatever the case may be, do what’s right for you!
Lastly, here are some before pictures of my master bedroom and bathroom. As you can tell these are the listing photos but you get the idea!
So now that you have officially been challenged, you have some tips, what room are you going to tackle? Keep us updated on White Walls.
